I don't have a new drawing yet (working on my "i love myself so much" comics) but I bring thee just a quote from a very inspiring sir, John Lasseter, talking about creativity principles at Pixar. I highlight a small personal favorite passage of it, but recommend its whole reading: (thanks to Upcoming Pixar for the link):

3. Quality is a great business plan. Period. "There is a crucial rule: no compromises. No compromises on quality - regardless of production constraints, cost constraints, or a deadline. If you get a better idea, and this means that you have to start again from scratch, then that's what you have to do.

"In any creative industry, quality is the sole business plan that prevails in the long run. Many managers fail to understand that, but the spectators understand it. The process is only finished once the creative professional in charge says it's finished. That does not mean that there isn't to be any pressure - there's pressure all the time anyway - but the individual creator always needs to have the last word."

Ahhhhhhhh might be back

Hello world.

Thanks to my friends Patty and Dani, I now have a tablet pen that works again!!!! Thanks girls, you rock!!! (Be sure to thank your friend overseas for me too, she was very kind!)

I know I didn't do the artwork that the pen deserves (maybe it should be in better hands) but, just to celebrate the day.

This year has been amazingly shockingly weirdly sickeningly odd, actually I don't have the words to describe it, it's sucking a lot yet I am so thankful because I've met so many great people who are amazing artists as well, besides all the great people I've been already working with, so I added some links to the wonderful works these marvellous people do. Serious, I couldn't be more greateful.

I am also learning so much about life and love and etc. (artistic etceteras) that I haven't applied to practice yet because I am so slow, but hey.
(hey what? I don't know, I lost the point)

Now I shall return to my cold dark cave of South America's most ignored.
(sometimes I wish I was just a little maggot eaten by fish 2 days after being born, but this is so emo.)

Hey' all! A post per week, that must be some kind of unusual wind blowin'... or was I on vacation just doodling at home recovering from home-cooking injuries? Yep, the second option is the right one, so kids, when cooking pasta, beware of the evil boiling water!

Anyway, these are quite simple sketches I made with gouache, based on two dear friends with whom I am always failing on being in touch. I'm sorry Patty and Dani for disappearing so much! (I don't think they ever see this blog)

That's it for today... see y'all soon.

Drawing Day 08

I did a few drawings today but took only a picture of one of them, because I don't have a scanner with me. The others were either too light to look good on a picture or didn't look too good (not that this one does :( ) . I need to practice more traditional painting... I did a study sketch based on Julie Delpy's character Celine in "Before Sunset" but I'll post only the finished piece this time... I love those "Before Sunrise/Sunset" movies.

Meme: Teen Eiko

This is a fun meme created by Davario, whose blog I came to know thanks to this meme and through Drawn, and I imediately became his (undeclared) fan! Well, after seeing other many talented artists participating (see list clicking on link) , I decided to give my humble contribution. I shall say that I like myself as a 16 year old more than nowadays, as I had a bit more courage then. (or less wisdom, probably the last one). I hope I'll see more of these around!

Live model sketches

Hello, it's been a while since my last post... these are some live model drawings I did a while ago (the male ones where in February) . My last live model session was last weekend and it was really nice, a whole sunday sketching, but I don't have them here with me right now, so there I go with quite old stuff.

See y'all hopefully soon!

Quick sketch

After a long time doing character clean up, a quick sketch at home to loosen up a bit. The idea behind this was a girl that might be too old to play but not ready yet to stop.

Work in Progress

Right now this is a grayscale sketch of a guitar girl, based on what I've learned in Digital Painting's first class (at schoolism.com) . Later I'll add background and colors, but I'm still studying what to do about that.
